The liver has multiple functions, but its main function within the digestive system is to process the nutrients absorbed from the small intestine. Bile from the liver secreted into the small intestine also plays an important role in digesting fat.

Answer:

The  main function o live in the digestive system is to process the nutrients absorbed from the small intestine. Bile secreted by the liver into the small intestine plays a major role in digesting fat.

The liver regulates many chemical levels in the blood and produces a product called bile. This helps carry the waste to the liver. All the blood that comes out of the stomach and intestines passes through the liver. The liver processes this blood and then degrades, balances, and nourishes and regenerates drugs into simple or toxic substances throughout the body. More than 500 important functions have been identified in the liver. Some of the most popular activities include the following:

Production of bile, which helps to transport waste and break down fat in the small intestine during digestion

Production of certain blood plasma proteins

The production of cholesterol and special proteins to help carry fat in the body

Converting excess glucose into glycogen for storage (glycogen can also be converted back to sugar for energy) and balancing and making sugar as needed.

Control of blood levels of amino acids, which form building blocks for protein

Hemoglobin processing for its iron content (liver stores iron)

Conversion of toxic ammonia into urea (urea is the final product of protein metabolism and is excreted in urine)

Cleansing the blood of drugs and other toxic substances

Controlling blood pressure

Resistance to disease by making antibodies and removing germs from the blood

Removal of bilirubin, also in red blood cells. When there is a buildup of bilirubin, the skin and eyes turn yellow.

When the liver breaks down harmful substances, its products are released into the gallbladder or blood. Bile by-products enter the gut and leave the body in the form of feces. Blood products are filtered by the kidneys, leaving the body in a state of urination.
