First of all lets define matter- Its anything which occupies space and have mass.

Solids, liquids occupy space and also have mass. Gasses have no mass but it occupies space. But sound neither have any mass nor it occupies some space. Thus solids, liquids and gases are considered as matter but sound is not.

Explanation:  Liquid and gases are considered as a matter Because It has the property of matter like intermolecular force and attration, Rigidity ..ETC..

BUT ,Liquid and gases are not considered as sound Because It is a medium of propagation of sound.. it does not have the properties of matter..
