★ he got the little Alexander Agassiz professor of zoology Emeritus

★ he was awarded by their prizes regarding as triple crown of Biology. The Blazan prize in 1983, the international prize for Biology in 1994 and the crafoord prize 1999

★ he is single-handedly made the origin of species diversity the central questions of involuntary biology that it is today

★ he also pioneered the currently accepted definition of a biological species.

★ he died at the age of hundred in the year 2004.
