Give a short note on melting point and boiling point of metals.​

Answer;

  • Metals generally have high melting as well as high boiling points. For example, melting point of iron is 1536°C and it's boiling point is 3000°C. Some metals however, have an exceptionally low melting point. For example, the melting point of caesium metal is only 28.7°C.

The melting point is usually defined as the point at which materials changes from a solid to a liquid. The boiling point of a liquid is the temperature at which the vapour pressure of the liquid becomes equal to the atmospheric pressure of the liquid’s environment. At this temperature, the liquid is converted into a vapour.
