1. follicular phase → It is the main phase in which follicles develop and mature . The main hormone produced during this stage is estrogen . Its end is marked by increase in LH level resulting in ovulation.

2. Menstrual phase→It is marked by degeneration of endometrial lining due to absence of fertilization. It generally lasts from 3-5 days . At this stage level of progesterone falls .

3. luteal phase →It is marked by the formation of Corpus luteum from degenerated Graafian follicle. It is responsible for the release of hormone progesterone. It generally lasts for 14 days .
