Ladies and gentlemen, life is a cup of tea for all of us. It is what we make of the talents we have and the opportunities that come our way that determine whether our cups of tea taste good or better each time we make it.

In cricket, India saw a batsman appear on the sporting firmament with a lot of talent. This left-handed, stylish batsman scored a double hundred on his first test appearance against England. Cricket was his cup of tea. But, he gradually faded away into oblivion thanks to a wayward lifestyle and non-cricketing interests. So, we became used to seeing Vinod Kambli more often in television studios than on the cricket pitch. On the other hand, Sachin Tendulkar, another childhood prodigy, scaled the heights of cricketing stardom with grace, modesty, focus and flamboyance. Sachin Tendulkar was rooted to the ground, pursued what he was capable of and improved upon his skills every single day of his cricketing career. He knew how to brew his cup of tea and made it well each time he pursued what he had learnt and could do well.

We all have some talent for one thing or more. We must, therefore, be focused, get our act together, have clear goals and pursue them with courage, conviction and determination. More often than not we shall achieve success if we do all of these. Life is, therefore, a cup of tea and it depends how we make it.

Life indeed is a cup of tea; how you make it depends upon you. Life never gives us things ready-made! Life always gives us the raw material, which we have to work assiduously to shape something worthwhile out of it. Similarly, life never gives us a ready cup of tea. It gives us, tea-leaves, sugar, fire, and other material required to make tea. No two different persons will prepare the same tasting tea out of the given ingredients; their teas will taste differently. The symbolism of tea alludes to challenges of life. Life has never been easy and joy ride! As we grow old, we face many setbacks, failures, losses, and struggles. They are meant to be accepted.

People generally start whining and pining at the sight of failures, losses, and struggle. Those who don't take these bulls by the horn are bound to fall in depression and dejection which ultimately leads to disinterested in the game of life of life. We must not lose our enthusiasm in any straits and trials. We have to accept the ingredients of failures and setbacks and convert them into tasty tea. We have examples of great men as footprints left on the sands of time, to learn how to do it. Helen Keller is the most conspicuous example in this regard. How courageously she accepted the raw material of preparing tea dispensed to her by life, and how patiently and hard workingly she prepared tea out of them and made such a scrumptious cup of tea out of it! All great men have this knack of accepting these ingredients and preparing wonderful tea with their hard-work and skills. So next time you are given the tea ingredients, don't grumble , just get to making it a tasty cup of tea.
