Heat the saturated and unsaturated hydrocarbons separately with a burner keeping a china dish covering the smoke coming from both burning objects. The china dish with soot and black marks on it is the smoke of unsaturated hydrocarbon while the other is of saturated hydrocarbo without any soot or ashes.
