give aldol condensation reaction of acetaldehyde and explain why formaldehyde doesn't give this reaction

Answer:

since formaldehyde has only one carbon which is the carbonyl carbon and there is no alpha carbon present and hence no alpha hydrogen so formaldehyde does not undergo aldol condensation
