Answer:

1) Many metal react with oxygen to form metal oxides. Potassium and sodium are soft metal which are easily cut exposing a shiny surface which changes to dull rapidly. The change from shiny to dull is called tarnishing. Potassium burns with a lilac flame heated in air.

2) Metal react with oxygen to form metallic oxides. These metallic oxides are basic because they react with water to form bases. On the other hand, nonmetals react with oxygen to form nonmetallic oxides. These oxides differ from metallic oxides because they are acidic in nature.

Sorry I didn't know Q3) and Q4)

Answer:

q.1) When metals react with oxygen, they form their oxides which are basic in nature. For example,

Magnesium (Mg) + Oxygen (O2) -------->  Magnesium oxide (MgO). And,

Ferrous (Fe) + Water (H2O) + Oxygen (O2) --------> Ferric Oxide (Fe2O3)

q.2) Difference one: Metals oxides form upon reaction between a metal and oxygen whereas non-metal oxide is formed upon reaction between non-metal and oxygen.

Difference 2: Metals oxide are basic in nature. They turn red litmus paper to blue. Whereas non-metal oxides are acidic in nature. They turn blue litmus paper to red.

Difference 3: Example of metal oxide is Magnesium Oxide. Example of non-metal oxide is carbon dioxide

q.3) When non-metal react with oxygen, they form their oxides which are acidic in nature. For example,

Sulphur (S) + Oxygen (O2) -------> Sulphur dioxide (SO2)

Carbon (C) + Oxygen (O2) ---------> Carbon dioxide (CO2)

q.4) The element which forms an oxide which is acidic in nature is a non-metal.
