Akbar's Rajput policy:-

  • Under the pursuance of Rajput policy, Akbar had entered into matrimonial alliances with the rulers of the Rajput kingdom.
  • He had granted equal status to the Rajputs.
  • In the year 1562, he married the daughter of the Rajput ruler, Raja Bihari Mai of Amber, and went further to marry the princess of Jodhpur and Jaisalmer too.
  • There was complete freedom for the Rajput queens to preach their religion and celebrate their festivals as they wish like.
  • Akbar also made initiatives to remove certain social evils from the Rajput society like the 'Sati system.'
