The five kingdoms were formed on the basis of characteristics such as cell structure, mode of nutrition, source of nutrition and body organisation.

It includes:-

  • Kingdom Monera,
  • Kingdom Protista,
  • Kingdom Fungi,
  • Kingdom Plantae,  
  • Kingdom Animalia.

Kingdom Monera

This group includes all Some well-known bacteria include blue-green algae or cyanobacteria , and mycoplasma.

Kingdom Protista

In this group we include Chrysophytes, Dinoflagellates, Euglenoids, Slime moulds and Protozoans.

Kingdom Fungi

Most fungi are heterotrophic and absorb soluble organic matter from dead substrates and hence are called saprophytes.

Kingdom Plantae

They are autotrophs and use chlorophyll for photosynthesis.These are multicellular eukaryotes with cell walls mainly made of cellulose.

Kingdom Animalia

These include all organisms which are multicellular eukaryotes without cell walls. They are heterotrophs.
