When a Gene at one locus suppresses or masks or influences the phenotypic expression of either the dominant Gene or the recessive Gene at another locus ,it is called epistasis.

When a dominant Gene at one locus suppresses or masks or influences the phenotypic expression of either the dominant Gene or the recessive Gene at another locus ,it is called dominant epistasis.

The Gene at the hypostatic locus expresses itself only in the presence of a recessive Gene in the epistatic locus.

eg:coat colour in dog

When a recessive Gene at one locus suppresses or masks or influences the phenotypic expression of either the dominant Gene or the recessive Gene at another locus ,it is called recessive epistasis.

Eg: coat colour in house mice.
