Answer:Malaria is caused by a protozoan Plasmodium and spread by female Anopheles mosquito.

Symptoms of malaria are:

(i) High fever with specific pattern of cold, hot and sweating stage.

(ii) Severe body ache (muscular pain).

The control measures of malaria are:

(i) Use insect repellent and mosquito net.

(ii) Cover open drain with kerosene oil.

(iii) Use prescribed dose of quinine to control the disease.

CAUSEs OF MALARIA

  • Plasmodium is the main reason, a parasite that causes malaria.

  • There are 5 types of Plasmodium.
  1. P. falciparum
  2. P. malariae
  3. P. vivax
  4. P. ovale
  5. P. knowlesi

VECTOR

  • Malaria is caused by the bite of a female Anopheles mosquito.
  • It requires two hosts to complete its cycle : The human and the mosquito.
  • It invovles the release of sporozites.

SYMPTOMS

  • Recurring chills
  • Loss of appetite
  • Sweating
  • Can also lead to anemia, in fatal cases

CONTROL MEASURES

  • Avoid stagnation of water
  • Check for water polluted areas.
