viruses cannot reproduce by themselves, respond to changes or use energy or grow. this seems to indicate that viruses are not living organisms. however, when a virus enters the living cell of an organism, say a human, it is able to reproduce. it uses the energy of the host cells for this purpose.

viruses.....
1. structure :icosahedral, enveloped, complex or helical.

2.replication of viruses :Viral replication is the formation of biological viruses during the infection process in the target host cells. Viruses must first get into the cell before viral replication can occur. ... Most DNA viruses assemble in the nucleus while most RNA viruses develop solely in cytoplasm.

3.transmission: (1) by direct contact with infected individuals; (2) by contact with contaminated object and (3) by inhalation of virus-laden aerosols.
