Some Affects of the super cyclone AMPHAN
Cyclone Amphan, hit West Bengal on 20th of May, 2020 claiming 86 lives so far and affecting over 10 million people in the eastern Indian states. The powerful storm ripped through eastern India and neighbouring country, Bangladesh.
The storm at Kolkata started from about 5:00 pm at a speed of 150 km/h. The sky turned pitch black at that time. We had several pots with plants in it, which we had to remove from the verandah that very morning. At about 7:00 pm, the speed turned at a devastating range- 260 km/h. This was likely to be the greatest of all the cyclones, in India. Our window panes were slowly becoming frail, and soon it broke. All the trees were uprooted in our surrounding areas, due to the force of the storm. We saw the coconut trees jumping like anything else, as if they were swinging. Most of the local shops were affected badly, and it claimed 86 lives so far. It was a great devastating cyclone, which ever broke out in India in the last few decades.
