  • India being a developing nation with one of the fastest growing economies still facing the challenge of poverty.
  • Poverty has business drawbacks, low level of education, homelessness malnutrition and lack of basic necessities like food, clothing and shelter. This puts a lot of pressure on the government as it  creates a burden on the national income of the country.
  • The percentage of poor people is not the same in all places of India.
  • While poverty is still a major problem in South states like Orissa and Bihar states like West Bengal Tamil Nadu and Gujarat show a decline in the rate of poverty.
