a) The maximum strength of the Lok Sabha as provided by the constitution of India is 552. Out of this, upto 530 members can represent the states and not more than 20 members can represent the union territories. Two members of the anglo-indian community may be nominated by the President to the Lok Sabha in case he feels that his community is not adequately represented. At present the Lok Sabha consists of 545 members including the two nominated Anglo Indians. The allotment of members to the various States is roughly on the basis of population.

b) In order to be elected as a member of the Lok Sabha a person,

a) must be a citizen of India,

b) must not be less than 25 years of age.

c) must possess such other qualification as may be prescribed under any law made by the parliament.

c) The term of the houses five years. The president has the power to dissolve the house before the expiry of its term if the party in power losses majority.
