Give an account of the Northern Plains of India.

➡ The northern plain has been formed by the interplay of the three major rivers - the Indus , the Ganga and the Brahmaputra along with their tributaries.

➡ It spreads over an area of 7 lakh square km.

➡ 2,400 km long and 240 km to 320 km broad.

➡ Intensively cultivated and densily populated physiographic division.

➡ Rich alluvial soil , adequate water , dense transport network and favourable climate supports to the large population.

➡ Punjab , Haryana , Uttar Pradesh , Bihar , West Bengal and Assam.

➡ According to the variations in relief features, the northern plain can be divided into four regions - Bhabar , Terai , Bhangar and Khadar.

Ans. The northern plains has been formed by the three major River system I.e. the Ganga ,Indus and Brahmaputra along with their tributaries . This plane is formed of Alluvial soil .

Here are some point which can help you -

1. It has an area of about 70000 sq. km.
the Plains are nearly 2400 kilometre long.

2. Made up of Alluvial soil, due to which it is considered as great agricultural practices area .

3.main crops grown here are paddy and wheat .

4. it is crossed by three major rivers Indus ,Ganga and Brahmaputra .

5.it is divided into four major parts i.e. Babar,banger, Terai and khudar.

Mainly 5 points about the northern are sufficient.
