Role of Assam in Civil disobedience movement:

  • All congress leaders, Mahatma Gandhi included, got arrested within the days of the AICC resolution, assam suffered the same fate.
  • But they did not let this discourage their motivation.
  • Despite solid leadership and a stream of violent acts by the administration and the protesters, the movement was a great success.
  • Assam's role in the movement came to notice when the students started to protest and it motivated the elders to step in and take part in the movement.
  • Especially the women, as they were the backbone of the movement.
  • Even iconic people like Aruna Asif, Sucheta Kriplani joined the movement and played a big role. Not to forget that Assam had many strong women heroes like Kanaklata, Kamala Miri, Bhogeswari Phukanani and many others.
