Squamous epithelium
it consists of single layer of flat cells it is found in lungs, heart, blood vessels here it allows the movement of material.
Cuboidal epithelium
it consists of a single layer of cube shaped cells it is found in kidney tubes , small glands etc it makes secretions over here.
Columnar epithelium
it consists of elongated cells it is found in alimentary canal, gall bladder. where it make secretions
Cilliated columnar epithelium
it has elongated cells with cilliated on it it is found in trachea, bronchi and propels mucous
stratified squamous epithelium
it has many layers of flat cells it is found in lining of oesophagus and over the skin it protects the inside of a body.

The structures, location and functions of the various types of epithelium tissue is shown in the table below :
S. No. Type Structure Position IP Function
1. Squamous The cells are flat, discoidal Cells lining the blood ves- Exchange between body epithelium and polygonal and fit like sels, alveoli of lung, Bow- cells and blood, Ex-change the tiles in a floor. man's capsule of nephron. of gases, Ultra filtration.
2. Cuboidal epithelium Cells are cuboidal or iso- diametric with centric and rounded nuclei. Glands, ducts, nephrons, gonads etc. Selective re-absorption of useful materials. Secretion, divide by meiosis and form gametes.
3. Columnar Cells are polygonal and col- Fallopian tube, mucosa of Move ovum/zygote. In-epithelium umn-like or pillar-like with small intestine, lining of creased absorption of nu-oval-shaped nuclei. stomach etc. trients.
4. Ciliated epithelium Cuboidal, columnar cells bear fine hair like cilia. Lining of respiratory tract, uriniferous tubules, tra- chea and fallopian tubes. Protection, spreading of mucus and flow of materi-als.
5. Glandular epithelium Cuboidal gland cells. Lining of alimentary ca- nal and digestive glands. Secretion.
