Formation: The northern has been formed by the interplay of the three major river system namely the indus , the ganga and the brahamputra along with their tributaries. This plain is formed of alluvial soil.
Area Covered: It spread over an area of 7,00000 sq km.
Economic Importance: With the rich soil covered with adequate water supply and favorable climate it is agriculturally a very productive part of India.
Division Of Plains : The plain is broadly divided into three section
1. The Punjab plain
2. The Ganga plain
3. The Brahamputra plain
