Assam's role in the movement came to notice when the students started a protest and it motivated the elders to step in and take part in the movement. Especially the women, as they were the backbone of the movement. Even iconic people like Aruna Asif, Sucheta Kriplani joined the movement and played the big role.

All congress leaders, Mahatma Gandhi included, got arrested within the days of the AICC resolution, Assam suffered the same fate. but they did not let this discourage their motivation.
