Activity to show that seven colours can be mixed to get white colour:

Materials Required :

1. 2 glass prisms
2. A powerful torch

Procedure :

Take two prisms one after another. Take a powerful torch. Take the light to the prism. Observe in a dark room. You can see that in 1st prism the white light is converted to the seven colours. The colours include Violet, Indigo, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange and Red. Also, you can observe that the seven colours change into a white colour. This is the relationship between the seven colours and the white colour. We can also tell that sunlight has seven colours.

NOTE: This activity was first done by Sir Isaac Newton. This phenomenon is known as dispersion of light. This is model is also called spectrum.
