Gandhi realized that their had been a lot of discrimination because of peoples differences but that never stopped Gandhi fighting for equal rights for any body. He believed that no matter the difference people could live in peace with each other.
Society was ruled by the british. Gandhi felt the laws were unreasonable and so did many others. Gandhi tried to help the british in the boar war to get a change with the law about indians losing the right to vote in South Africa but got no change that he wanted. In India when Gandhi was leading the fight towards Independence the british imprisoned, beat, and killed Indian people. Gandhi still loved the british even though he did not agree with them and in that he still stuck to his ways of peaceful protest.
Gandhi's history was full of fighting but not always in physical ways. He witnessed and experienced racial segregation and faced the problems of unequal rights in south Africa. Gandhi also dealt with a long drawn out battle with bringing peace between Muslims and Hindus while trying to fight for India's right for dependence. Not once though did Gandhi think about violence being the answer even though he lived in a time of war and violence occurring around him.
