Thomas Hardy was a great English novelist as well as poet. He was born in Dorset, England in 1840. He is greatly known for his work as a Novelist .
Hardy's achievements→ won prizes from the 'Royal Institute of British Architects' and 'the Architectural Association'.
Hardy wrote a small number of novels which earned him a high reputation in his lifetime. These include "Tess of the Durbervilles", "The Mayor of Casterbridge and Far from the Madding Crowd."
His first novel 'The Poor Man and the Lady",which was finished in the year 1867, but it was unsuccessful in publishing.
Hardy had a lifelong interest in drama and the theater, and it was his original literary ambition to be a playwright, although he did not had any plays until near the end of his career and then wrote only two.
