Touch me not plant (Mimosa pudica) of sub family Mimosoidea of family Fabaceae shows a mesmerising movement in its leaves. The leaf base is swollen (pulvinous leaf base). As a response to touch (thigmotropism) , the cells at leaf base lose water and hence their turgidity . The cells hence become flaccid and makes the leaf droop down.
