1.The British introduced greased cartridges in the army and there was a rumour that it was greased with pig and cow fat. This was objectionable to the Hindus and Muslims alike.
2.The English Christian missionaries came to India and started converting the Hindus to Christianity and the Indians feared this was to disturb their social and religious life. The British greatly supported this.
