"Hydrogen peroxide" acts as oxidising agents in "both" acidic and basic medium. It also acts as a "reducing agent" in "both" "acidic and basic" medium. It is used as a "bleaching agent" for the paper pulp, textiles, preparation of sodium per borate and deuterium compounds, and automobile fuel.

Example to show "Hydrogen peroxide" acts as oxidising agents in acidic medium.

2FeSO_{ 4 }(aq)\quad +\quad H_{ 2 }SO_{ 4 }(aq)\quad +\quad H_{ 2 }O_{ 2 }(aq)\quad \longrightarrow \quad Fe_{ 2 }(SO_{ 4 })_{ 3 }(aq)\quad +\quad 2H_{ 2 }O(l)

PbS(s)\quad +\quad 4H_{ 2 }O_{ 2 }\quad \longrightarrow \quad PbSO_{ 4 }(s)\quad +\quad 4H_{ 2 }O(l)"
