An example of a chemosynthetic bacteria is Thiomargarita namibiensis. Chemosynthetic bacteria are the ones that utilise the energy obtained via oxidising reactions from inorganic molecules. In other words, they break down the bonds in chemical compounds and convert it into usable substances.

There are alternatively known as chemoautotrophs. It is different from photosynthesis as there's no involvement of light in this process. Nitrosomonas is another example and it obtains energy from ammonia and oxygen.
