There are several types of herbicides, such as :

  1. Fungal herbicide
  2. Bacterial herbicide
  3. Insect herbicide
  • Fungal herbicide or Mycoherbicide make use of certain fungi to help control and evict certain plants. These are highly common as cheap and feasible methods. Ex: Alternaria
  • Bacterial herbicide is also used to control vegetation on a smaller scale like weeds and small saplings. They are not very common as they need lab culture and is slightly more expensive. Ex: Xanthomonas
  • Insect herbicide or using insects to control growth of certain weeds, plants etc using insect toxins is another common method. Ex: Cactoblastis.
