• A body at rest will remain at rest , and a body in uniform motion will continue it's motion in a straight line with a uniform speed, unless it is compelled by an externel force to change it's state of rest or of uniform motion .

For example /-

• A stone at rest will remain at rest will remain at state of rest unless and until it is compelled by an externel force.

• If there were no air resistance and no friction to oppose the motion of a bicycle , the bicycle , then according to the first law of motion , the bicycle would go on moving for ever and will never stop by itself.
