√2  ×  √2  =  √4  =  √2 ×2 = 2

The product if two irrational numbers can be a rational number or an irrational number.

√3 × √2 = √6

In this case, we get an irrational number.

√8 × √2 = √16 = 4

In this case, we get a rational number.
