It is possible that some erode quickly while some might take a little longer.

Weathering and erosion are the process involved in reduction of rocks.

While the softer rocks break down faster, the harder take time.

The un-eroded hard rock stands on the mountains and is referred to as Residual Mountains.

Examples include The Aravali Hills, and The Eastern and Western Ghats etc.
