Reaction of decomposition:
Decomposition reaction is a type of reaction in which the compound breaks into two or more products.
Examples of decomposition reaction is:
- Decomposition of baking soda.
- Decomposition of hydrogen peroxide.
- Decomposition of carbonic acid.
When decomposition takes place through heat energy, it is called as thermal decomposition.
Illustration for decomposition by heating process:
- When calcium carbonate is heated, carbon dioxide is evaporated with calcium oxide.
- When water is heated, it produces monatomic oxygen and hydrogen.

HELLO MATE, HERE IS YOUR ANSWER.....Reaction:when lead nitrate is heated in a test tube, it forms lead oxide, nitrogen di oxide, oxygen.
Activity: heat this test tube for a while.
Conclusion: decomposition of lead nitrate is a thermal decomposition reaction.
