Give an example of the law of segregation(in Short)
Answers
Law of segregation :
According to this law , during gamete formation , the two factors or alleles of a pair segregate from each other and each gamete receives only one factor or allele of the pair . This means that they do not show mixing .
For example : In Mendel's monohybrid cross , the two factors , for example in homozygous Tall TT , the factors segregate and each gamete gets only one T and another factor from another parent .
This was the second postulate of Mendel.
The three Mendel's laws are :
• Law of dominance
• Law of segregation
• Law of independent assortment
Answer:
Mendel's law of segregation states that: “During the formation of gamete, each gene separates from each other so that each gamete carries only one allele for each gene.” Law of segregation is the second law of inheritance.
For example, the gene for seed color in pea plants exists in two forms. There is one form or allele for yellow seed color (Y) and another for green seed color (y). ... When the alleles of a pair are different (heterozygous), the dominant allele trait is expressed, and the recessive allele trait is masked.
