See the triangle in the above figure

  1. Now, look at angle 1 and angle 2.
  2. We know that sum of angles on a straight line is 180.
  3. Therefore, 1+2=180°
  4. Since the example I have taken is an equilateral triangle, all the angles will be = 60°
  5. Therefore, 1+2=180° hence 2=120°
  6. 3+4=120° as 60+60=60°
  7. Hence 2=3+4
  8. This is the explanation for exterior angle property of a triangle
