Expression to relate the absolute refractive index of the medium with speed of light in vacuum:

We need to find the expression that will give us the value of absolute refractive index.

As we know that the value of refractive index, when a certain medium is kept in vacuum. So, we know that it will be the ratio between the speed of light when it is travelling in vacuum and the same light is then passed through the medium.

So its speed will be Denominator and hence we can conclude that the refractive index. We get in this formula will always be greater than one because the speed in vacuum will always be more than that which travels through medium.

Refractive index(n) = \frac{ speed\ of\ light\ in\ vaccum}{ speed\ of\ light\ in\ medium}.

                             n = \frac{c}{v}.

Answer:The refracted ray, incident ray and normal all lie in the same plane.

The ratio of sine of angle of incidence and angle of refraction is constant.

Absolute refractive index is defined as the ratio of the velocity of light in vaccum to the velocity of light in medium.
