Shahid had a very broad minded upbringing because he equally enjoyed the company of Hindus and Muslims.   He made a Hindu temple inside his house which shows his broad outlook towards religion.   Shahid's mother gave him an educated upbringing with respect towards all religions and communities.   He wanted politics to be seperated from religion.
