CPI or Communist Party of India was founded in 1925 by a group of socialists like Charu Mukherjee,M.N Roy etc.

-Played a part in Indian Independence struggle

-First came into power in Kerala in 1957 under the leadership of EMS Namboothirippadu

-After the Sino-Soviet Split,In 1964,A group with left CPI to form CPI(Marxist) which is powerful than CPI today

-CPI is a major power in Andhra Pradesh,Kerala,Tripura and West Bengal

-Currently led by V Sudhakar Reddy

-Currently has a single Lok Sabha Seat,2 Rajya Sabha seats
