Here is the solution :

If you observe, We can see that a line is a 1d diagram,

So here, The congruency means Equal length,

Given that,
AB is congruent to CD , Which means,
Length of AB = Length of CD(Since it's 1d)

Now,
If you observe diagram again,
AB + BC = AC,
and,
BC + CD = BD,

Here, AB = CD, So let that be equal to x,

=> x + BC = AC,
=> BC + x = CD,

These two are equal since x + BC remains same,

So,
We can say that,
AC = BD,

Therefore : AC Is congruent to BD i.e AC = BD,
