A rectangular solid has a square base, with each side of the base measuring 4 meters. If the volume of the solid is 112 cubic meters, what is the surface area of the solid?

Medium

Answer

Correct option is

A

144 m

2

Given: Each side of the square base of the solid =4 metres

∴ Area of the square base =4

2

=16 cm

2

Volume of the solid = Area of the square base × height

Given : Volume of the solid =112 cm

2

∴112=16×height

⟹height=

16

112

=7 cm

∴ height of the solid cylinder =7 cm

Surface area of the solid =2(lb+bh+lh), where,

l= length of the base of solid,

b= breadth of the base of the solid

h= height of the solid

∴ Surface area of the solid =2(4×4+4×7+4×7)

=2(16+28+28)

=144m
