Answer :

Height of mercury column = 75cm

Density of mercury = 13600kg/m³

Acc. due to gravity = 10m/s²

We have to find pressure in pascal.

★ Pressure can be calculated by using this formula, P = ρ × g × H

  • P denotes pressure
  • ρ denotes density
  • g denotes acc. due to gravity
  • H denotes height

Pascal is a MKS unit of pressure so we have to convert unit of height into m.

➠ 100 cm = 1 m

∴ 75 cm = 0.75 m

Substituting the values in formula, we get

➙ P = ρ × g × H

➙ P = 13600 × 10 × 0.75

P = 102000Pa = 102kPa

Important conversions :

  • 1 atm = 1.01325 bar
  • 1 bar = 10⁵ Pa
  • 1 atm = 101.325kPa
  • 1 atm = 760mm of Hg
  • 1 atm = 76 cm of Hg
  • 1 atm = 0.76 m of Hg
  • 1 atm = 760 torr
  • 1 torr = 1 mm of Hg
