I'm sorry that I don't know about properties but I know test for both the gases
TEST FOR CARBON-DIOXIDE:
----take some amount of quicklime (calcium carbonate) in a test tube.
-----heat the test tube.on heating of test tube the calcium carbonate dissociates into calcium oxide and and carbon dioxide.
----arrange a delivery tube from the test tube into a test tube having lime water.
----if the lime water turns milky,it proves the presence of carbon dioxide.

Take some amount of sodium bicarbonate in a test tube and heat it. we get calcium oxide and carbon dioxide and hydrogen. fix a delivery tube from the test tube to a container having soap water if the gases evolved have hydrogen it evolves soap bubbles. light a match stock and bring near the bubbles that splashes. if the hydrogen evolved it would make the lighting match stick put off
