Reasons why Magadha was a powerful kingdom are-

  • 2) Land revenue was high, this enabled rulers to maintain a large army.
  • 3) The thick forests supplied timber and elephants.Timber was used to built houses, forts and chariots. Elephants were used in the army.
  • 4) Magadha had large deposits of copper and iron ore.
  • 5) Magadha enjoyed a very favourable geographical condition. These were natural barriers against any attack on the kingdom.
  • 6) Magadha had a flourishing trade with other regions, which helped Magadha to maintain a large army.
