the raised area of each city was called citadel . it owed it's height to the buildings constructed on mud brick platforms . the citadel had the houses of the ruling class.

the citadel points to the elaborate planning that went into the development of cities and justifies that the Harappan civilisation was an urban civilisation.

// hope this will help//

Explanation:

The two features of Citadel are as follows:

  1. The citadel is the main "Citadel" of the city. It is the “castle, fortress” or the center of a fort. This word is a small part of the word "city" and thus means "small town", hence it is called a small part of the city because it is a defensive core.
  2. Some of the earliest known structures built in the form of a Citadel by the “Indus Valley Civilization” were constructed, where the fort was represented by a centralized authority. The main fort in the Indus Valley was about 12 meters long.
