Dear Student,

Food chain is the process of transfer of energy through series of organisms falling on successive trophic levels whereas, food webs are the interconnected food chains which shows relation between them.
In food chains, usually member of high trophic level feed upon a single type of organism of lower trophic level while, in food web members of higher trophic level feed upon many organisms of lower trophic level.

Food chain: 1. Food chain is the linear sequence of organisms in which each organism eats the lower member and is itself eaten by the next higher member.

Food web: 1. Food web is a network of interconnecting several food chains in a natural community of different organisms.

Food chain: 2. Energy flow is unidirectional.

Food web: 2. Energy flow is not linear and it is multidirectional i.e. alternate pathway.
Hope it helps!
