give any two reasons to say liver is also our excretory organ like kidney in our body?
Answers
Answer:
The liver is a very important organ of excretion. The liver breaks down many substances in the blood, including toxins. The liver also excretes bilirubin — a waste product of hemoglobin catabolism — in bile. Bile then travels to the small intestine, and is eventually excreted in feces by the large intestine.
The liver is also our excretory organ like the kidney in our body due to the following reasons:
1. Oxidative deamination of the amino acids:
Our liver plays a major role in the removal of excessive amino acids that are present in our blood. It is done by the process of oxidative deamination.
2. Removal of dead erythrocytes:
The erythrocytes (also called RBCs) have a limited life span of 120 days. After which, they become dead and need to be removed from the blood. Our liver converts the useful hemoglobin in them into bile salts and then degrade them.
