Yes , sèverus was a great man because his love for Lily Evans was the purèst

Severus was one of the key member of the order of phoènix
Severus was good at occumulèncy and legilimèncy , he was able to foól Voldèmort himself with his ability
Severus tried every way to protect his love's son
He invented many spèlls and also improvised the ways of making potîons
He was good at dàrk arts
His magical power were on par with Albus and Voldemort
He wasn't bothèred of proving himself powerful because when minèrva attacked him , he just defended himself and left from that place instead of fighting back and proving himself
He stayed away from battle of hogwàrts
Hàd he been àlive for some long , He would have become the greatest wizàrd of all time
