Surveys :

  • The tone of the survey should be scholarly, professional, and adopt a business format.
  • The modality of the survey needs to be determined. Example : Whether the survey is going to be web based or telephonic.

Focus Group Discussion

  • The topic should be clearly informed to the participants in advance.
  • The participants can prepare the material so there is no time wastage, and the focus is maintained by all group members.

Interviews :

  • Planning has to be done about the questions that would be asked for the interview.
  • Questions should be in line with the market research being carried out, and should not be too many in number, so  the interviewee's interest remains till the end.
