Sher Shah Suri built Grand Trunk Road from Chittagong in the east to Peshawar in the West. On the holding capacity of roads, they are characterized into 6 type of roads. Golden Quadrilateral super highways, National highways, state highways, district roads, other roads, and border roads. On the basis of material taken for making road they are classified into 2, metalled and unmetalled roads. Roads provide several advantages as: door to door service, they provide link b/w railways, air and sea ports.
